The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
